now & then {floors}

it has been a month since we moved into our home and finally i am able to share a few photos of the progress. the first project we tackled was the floors and since they are throughout the whole house it was a larger task then first thought but here is the before, during and a peak at the now.

we wanted to go with a richer color for the floors since the walls will be all white and i am quite happy with the way it has turned out.

there is limited furniture right now as we search around for the pieces that we need which means lots of space for O to run around in. i ll share some photos of the kitchen tomorrow as it is coming along quite nicely.

  1. Wow, I love the dark wood! It kind of matches your blog, too ;)

    So, the floors were stripped, sanded and restained? The original floors look fine, but they're kind of ... ordinary, that typical, predictable golden oak-type stain. Will you be keeping the dark trim?

  2. Ha ha.. yes I suppose they do match!

    The original floors were a bit scratched and three of the bedrooms had been carpeted so the floors were not finished underneath. So yes they were sanded back to bare wood and stained that lovely chocolate color. The trim is not staying as it... it will be white... all white!

  3. Congrats on your move and purchase of a new house! Wow, the rooms look very spacious. Have fun decorating!! Cloth fabrics has some great designs. Some bold patterns would look great in your home.

  4. I love dark floors w/white walls- great transformation! Congrats on the new house!

  5. Thank you! The house is starting to come along now that I get to do the fun part of decorating it.
